Why I am a Fan of FRYSC

I am a fan of the Williamsburg Independent School District Family Resource/Youth Service Center (FRYSC) because they help kids receive the things they need. The FRYSC can provide food for kids that are hungry, and it helps kids who need clothes, shoes, or jackets. It provides parents and grandparents with information about how keep their kids safe and healthy. Best of all, the Williamsburg Independent School District Family Resource/Youth Service Center helps take care of kids so they can become smarter, healthier, and keep their grades high!

Last year, the Williamsburg Independent School District Family Resource/Youth Service Center helped many families and kids by providing education, food, and resources. Specifically, they gave 212 students school supplies so they could do their best in school. Not to mention, they also provided 286 children clothing assistance so they could be clean and warm! They also provided, transportation for important activities and appointments for 25 people. These are some of the many reasons I am a huge fan of the Williamsburg Independent School District Family Resource/Youth Service Center.

From the point a baby is born in our community, the Family Resource/Youth Service Center is there to help them with education. They send out information to help tell new parents and grandparents about how to prepare their kids for school.   When their child/children are in school the FRYSC is still there to help. They provide school supplies, workshops, summer camp scholarships, and more. The Dr. Seuss Literacy Night is another educational event they host. At this event, all children receive a free book, they can get a temporary tattoo, and listen to our principal read books (my mother was the one who put on the tattoos). Most importantly, the FRYSC provides enthusiasm to help children and parents be the best that they can be.

The Williamsburg Independent School District Family Resource/Youth Service Center cares about the health of the community. The FRYSC provides medical resources during the school year to keep children healthy. For example, this year the center provided hearing, vision, and dental check-ups. The check-ups help to let parents know if something is wrong. If something is wrong and the parent cannot fix it, the FRYSC can help. Another example of how the Family Resource/Youth Service Center can help is if someone is sick and they vomited. The FRYSC can help by giving the student clean clothing. All of these resources, help kids in our school stay clean and healthy!

The FRYSC provides many things to help students at the Williamsburg Independent School District. For example, the center helped 32 families in crisis last year. The crisis help could be providing food for kids who are hungry or jackets for kids who are cold. They also provide home visits as needed. Personally, I have never been to the Resource Center. However, my sister and friends have been to it many times.  In fact, just the other day, my friend broke both of her shoes and the Resource Center gave her new shoes. She was grateful and the new shoes let her walk without having to worry.

I am a fan of the Williamsburg Independent School District Family Resource/Youth Service Center because they can help everyone. They have helped my friends. They have also helped my sister. The director, Ms. Tammy, is very energetic, enthusiastic, and ready for anything that will come her way. Ms. Tammy is very kind, gentle, and generous which makes it easy for students to ask for help. The FRYSC helps to make our school feel safe and comforting. I am proud to have the Williamsburg Independent School District Family Resource/Youth Service Center at my school!
