Amon W. Couch, Ed.D, Superintendent

Hi ... my name is Amon Couch; Welcome to our district site.  Our school district has a rich history of success and excellence.  For over 108 years, WISD has been graduating students who have taken the world by storm.  Our many alums have gone on to do amazing things.  If you're already a part of the Williamsburg family ... a member of Jacket Nation, we want this site to be a resource for you, a place where you can come for current information about your child's school and the happenings here.

School safety has been a high priority for us here in the last year, and we are working to make our school as safe as possible.  We received an NRA grant that allowed us to tint our interior and exterior windows.  We added cool graphics to our external doors to provide an extra layer of safety.  We installed a front door buzzer system to prevent unwanted access.  We just installed a state of the art video surveillance system with 65 new high-def cameras, both interior and exterior.  Our leadership team was trained as trainers for the ALICE school safety training model.

If you're looking for a place for your child to attend, there is none better than Williamsburg.  Our school is a small community school with big achievement and big ambitions.  Our students are second to none; our parent and community support is unparalleled, and we feel that this school is a great place to go to school.  We are currently involved in a $6 million renovation project that will give our district a new roof, a new HVAC system, new lighting, and a new elevator.  Our district has received a number of new innovative grants over the past year which allows us to offer the best services possible for our students.  If you have any questions at all about our school, please feel free to let me know personally.  My email address is:, and our school phone number is (606) 549-6044.  My extension is #104.

Our district's vision originates in what we call our 4 Commitments.  These concepts are commitments that we make to our students and families:

(1) School Safety - our commitment has always been to take every measure necessary to help ensure the safety of our students and our staff.

(2) College and Career Readiness - this means that our goal is for 100% of our students to graduate being ready for whatever post-secondary opportunities come their way.

(3) Personalized Learning - this idea stems from the fact that students learn best when they are given what they need in the classroom ... instruction / supports that are designed for them.

(4) On Time Supports - this is guided by the idea that we must provide systematic and systemic supports to our students both curricularly and extra-curricularly when they need it ... on time.
