Welcome! My name is Kayla Henderson. I am a 2014 Graduate of University of the Cumberlands with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Services and Youth and Family Ministry. I have been a GEAR UP College and Career Navigator at Williamsburg since April 2019, but started with the grant in January 2019 as an Academic Interventionist. I believe every student deserves an advocate and a chance to succeed. I am here to help students become successful in school, as well as in transitioning to life after high school. My role can be described as: mentor, cheerleader, support system, and encourager. GEAR UP works primarily with a cohort of two grades and follows them until they graduate. That cohort is currently in 8th and 9th grades. As a CCN, however, I get to work with students all the way down to Kindergarten, on some level. I love helping students learn to make positive choices. I'm thankful for the opportunity to be part of the Williamsburg family and in a role to support so many of our students. It takes a village. Go Jackets!!
